What is the Idea to Done 3D Workshop?
The Idea to Done 3D Workshop is a creative course that combines Artificial Intelligence (AI), 3D modeling, 3D printing, and manual finishing techniques.
Across 8 sessions, each lasting 2 hours, participants will learn to use professional tools to bring their wildest ideas to life — from imagination to a tangible, colorful figure!
🎯 Learning Outcomes (tailored to the participant’s interest and pace):
- Create a favorite anime-style character or an original person/creature from scratch
- Turn a concept into reality using AI and 3D design tools
- Develop creative thinking, observation, spatial awareness, and problem-solving skills
🗂️ Workshop Content (8 sessions – content may slightly vary based on interest and progress)
- Experience the Full Creative Process
Learn to use AI tools and the Nomad Sculpt app on iPad. Under guided instruction, participants complete a simple project from scratch. - AI-Assisted Sketching
Learn to use AI tools (ChatGPT, Tripo) to generate concept art and convert it into a 3D model. Understand common AI limitations and compare AI vs. manual design. - Editing AI Models in Nomad Sculpt (Part 1)
Import the AI-generated model into Nomad Sculpt, adjust mesh settings, and build the basic structure of the model to prepare it for printing. - Editing AI Models in Nomad Sculpt (Part 2)
Further optimize the structure, refine the shape, and add important details. Learn basic part separation techniques for assembly. - Editing AI Models in Nomad Sculpt (Part 3)
Finalize the model and check for details. Learn basic rendering techniques (materials, lighting, and coloring), and render a visual preview of the model. - Introduction to 3D Printing
Understand basic 3D printing theory, slicing software, and print settings. Hands-on experience with an FDM printer. - Post-Processing (Part 1)
Learn sanding and base coating techniques to ensure a smooth and even surface for painting. - Post-Processing (Part 2)
Add detailed decorations and visual touches. Complete final finishing and take home your fully painted model!
📍 Workshop Details
- Location: Unit HG20, G/F, Block B, PMQ, 35 Aberdeen Street, Central, Hong Kong
- Schedule: Flexible — choose from available time slots (advance booking required)
- Language: Primarily Cantonese, with English support available upon request
- Who can join: Full-time students aged 6 and up (children under 9 must be accompanied by one guardian)
- Guardian Participation: One guardian can accompany the child for free
- Equipment: iPads, computers, and 3D printers with required software provided — participants may also bring their own devices
⚠️ Important Notes
- Make-up Classes will be arranged if:
(a) A session is cancelled by the organizer (at least 48 hours’ notice will be given)
(b) Typhoon Signal No. 8 or Black Rainstorm Warning is in effect on the day - Rescheduling Policy:
Participants must notify us at least 48 hours in advance to reschedule. Late changes will not be accepted, and the missed session will be counted. - Completion Period:
All sessions must be completed between 1 June 2025 and 31 August 2025. Unused sessions after this period will be forfeited. - Refund Policy:
Fees are non-refundable under any circumstances. - Equipment Use:
iPads, computers, and 3D printers will be provided with required software. Participants may also use their own devices.
Idea to Done 3D Workshop (2025 Summer Special Edition)
There are eight workshops in total, each lasting two hours. Participants can choose any of the following time slots between June 1, 2025 and August 31, 2025:
- Thursday and Friday 3-5pm / 7-9pm
- Saturday 11am-1pm / 2-4pm
Participants can choose more than one time slot each week, and can also choose to pause in the middle. After registration, we will have someone contact you to confirm the date and time you wish to start the course.
Trial Plan: Includes Session 1 only and 3D Printed Figure is NOT included. It is possible to convert a Trial Plan to the Complete Plan by paying the price difference.
Complete Plan: Include all 8 sessions and ONE 3D Printed Figure of a maximum of 15cm high.
