AI Video Production Workshop
From AI Images to a Story-Driven Short Film
Gemini image generation × CapCut image-to-video × editing and sound
Turn characters and scenes from your imagination into a short film with a clear story and rhythm. In this four-hour workshop, you’ll use Gemini to generate images, then bring them to life in CapCut. You’ll arrange shots, fill gaps in the story and add music and sound effects, working towards a draft of a one-minute story film.
The workshop is for adults and teenagers who want to try AI image-making, including complete beginners. You’ll practise everything from writing image prompts to editing. Your instructor will guide you through comparing results and refining scenes so you can see how each choice affects the final story.
Workshop Details
-
Format: One-off, four-hour workshop
-
For: Adults and teenagers; suitable for beginners
-
Tools: Gemini and CapCut
-
Creative goal: A draft of an approximately one-minute story film
Create Characters and Scenes with Gemini
Start with a simple story idea and write prompts for its characters and settings. Use Gemini to generate character and background images, then practise using close, medium and wide shots to show different parts of the story.
When the same character appears in different shots, their appearance and style need to feel consistent. Your instructor will introduce prompting techniques for character consistency and help you compare and refine images before using them to make video clips.
Bring Images to Life with CapCut
Import your generated still images into CapCut and try image-to-video generation. See how character movement and changes in the scene can lead the story into its next shot.
Then arrange the clips on the editing timeline in story order. Practise trimming them and adjusting their length to establish the short film’s initial rhythm.
Add the Shots Your Story Needs
After reviewing a first edit, you may notice a missing establishing shot or an action that does not connect with the shots around it. In this section, you’ll identify those gaps and use Gemini or CapCut to create the images you need.
You’ll also learn to check AI-generated details, such as changes in a character’s appearance, unrealistic movement or unrelated content. Decide which clips to keep and which to regenerate or trim.
Shape the Rhythm and Mood with Sound and Transitions
Add background music and ambient sound to explore how audio can set a mood and connect scenes. Use transitions where they help, then refine the joins between shots to bring your film draft together.
How far you get will depend on your pace and how long image generation takes. You’ll work through the process of generating images, turning them into clips and editing them together, so you can continue creating with the same steps afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I join if I have no experience with AI or video editing?
Yes. The workshop is suitable for beginners. Your instructor will guide you from writing image prompts and generating source material through to creating clips and editing.
Who is the workshop for?
It is for adults and teenagers who want to try making a video with AI. If you have a simple story or creative idea you’d like to turn into a short film, you can practise the full process here.
Which tools will I use?
You’ll use Gemini to generate characters and settings, and CapCut for image-to-video, editing, sound and transitions.
Will I definitely finish a video in four hours?
The goal is to create a draft of an approximately one-minute story film. How complete it is will depend on your pace, image-generation time and how much you need to revise.
Do we need to go out and film?
The workshop focuses on AI-generated images and video, followed by hands-on editing. You’ll create and add any shots the story needs through image and video generation.
Will AI generate exactly what I imagine on the first try?
Generated images can contain errors or vary in style. You’ll practise refining prompts, generating images again and trimming clips, so you can assess and organise the material.
