Drone Registration, Licensing, and Training Certificates in Hong Kong
We care about every step of the learning journey for all participants, and want everyone to have a clear understanding of the regulations and certification involved:
(1) Registration
- Drones under 250g are considered "toy grade" and do not require registration.
- Drones between 250g–7kg must be registered online with the Civil Aviation Department and pass a short online test. No license is required.
- If you need support with registration, we offer full guidance and assistance throughout the process.
(2) License
- Only drones exceeding 7kg or used for high-risk commercial operations require a license from the Civil Aviation Department.
- Before providing any licensing advice or course information, we will confirm whether you are planning to use drones over 7kg.
- For typical personal activities and equipment, a license application is not required.
(3) Training Certificate
- Beets provides a training certificate for all participants who complete the designated training hours. This can be used for activity proof.
- The certificate is not an official government license, but will benefit participants building their CV.
